The Books I’m Bringing Into Summer ☀️šŸ“š

Tuesday, June 2, 2026

There’s something about summer reading that feels different in the best way. Maybe it’s the longer days, the iced coffee always within reach, or the fact that reading outside somehow makes every book feel more immersive. Whatever it is, summer has officially become one of my favorite reading seasons.

As we head into June, I’ve been pulling together the stack of books I want to bring into summer with me—and honestly, it might be my most exciting reading list yet.

This year, I’m leaning into books that feel fun, addictive, emotional, and easy to get lost in. I want stories that pair perfectly with sunny afternoons, beach bags, and late-night reading sessions with the windows open.

The Types of Books I Love During Summer

I’m such a seasonal reader, and summer always makes me gravitate toward:

  • Fast-paced thrillers
  • Lighthearted romances
  • Big fantasy books I finally have time to dive into
  • Emotional literary fiction
  • Easy “read in one weekend” stories
  • Books with coastal or vacation settings

There’s truly nothing better than finding the book that completely takes over your summer.

My June Reading List

Here are a few books I’m hoping to read this month:

A Summer Romance

Nothing says summer quite like a fun romance with banter, tension, and a dreamy setting. Bonus points if there’s a beach town involved.

A Thriller I Can’t Put Down

Summer is thriller season for me. I want something twisty enough that I accidentally stay up until 2 a.m. saying “just one more chapter.”

A Big Fantasy Book

I always convince myself summer is the perfect time to finally tackle those giant fantasy books sitting on my shelf. This year, I’m determined to actually do it.

A Backlist Book I’ve Been Ignoring

You know the one. The book that’s been on your shelf for two years that everyone swears is amazing? This is its moment.

An Audiobook for Walks & Errands

Summer is also peak audiobook season. I love listening while driving, walking, or wandering around Target pretending I only came in for one thing. Plus, in honor of Audiobook month, I'm hosting a walk-a-thon on June 13th where fellow readers can come together, listen to their audiobooks and go for a walk.

My Summer Reading Essentials

Half the fun of summer reading is creating the vibe. A few things I always keep nearby:

  • My Kindle
  • A cute bookmark
  • An oversized beach bag
  • A portable fan for patio reading
  • A giant iced coffee
  • Sunglasses and a paperback tossed into my tote

I’ve also been upgrading my reading setup lately with things like:

  • A Kindle stand and page turner
  • Book tabs and annotation supplies
  • Lightweight tote bags for library trips
  • Waterproof pouches for pool days

Reading Goals for the Summer

This summer, I’m trying to focus less on reading more books and more on enjoying the reading experience again. I want slower mornings with coffee and a chapter or two. I want to spend more evenings outside with a book instead of endlessly scrolling my phone.

My biggest reading goal? To make reading feel cozy and fun—not like another thing on my to-do list.

Tell Me What You’re Reading This Summer!

I’m always looking for new recommendations, so please send me your favorite summer reads! Are you reaching for romances? Thrillers? Fantasy? The latest BookTok obsession?

Let me know what books are coming into summer with you this year. ☀️šŸ“–

Have a wonderful day,
Jackie
