There’s something about April that just feels like a fresh start.
Maybe it’s the longer days, the hint of warmth in the air, or the fact that we’re officially stepping into a new season—but after a long winter and a busy start to the year, I’m craving a reset. Not a complete life overhaul (because let’s be honest, those never stick), but a gentle realignment.
March felt a little all over the place for me. Some really good moments, some chaotic ones, and a lot of “I’ll get back on track tomorrow.” So instead of putting pressure on myself to be perfect in April, I’m focusing on intentions—small, meaningful shifts that help me feel more grounded, more present, and more like me again.
Here’s what I’m bringing into this new month:
Slowing Down My Mornings
I’ve been in a bit of a cycle of waking up and immediately jumping into my phone, emails, or whatever feels urgent that day. And honestly? It’s been draining before the day even starts.
This month, I want to create slower mornings—even if it’s just 15–20 minutes. Coffee before chaos. A few pages of a book. Sitting in quiet instead of rushing into noise.
Nothing fancy, just intentional.
Getting Back Into Reading for Joy
Reading has always been one of my favorite things, but lately I’ve caught myself rushing through books or feeling like I have to read instead of wanting to read.
In April, I’m choosing books that actually excite me. Mood reading. DNF-ing without guilt. Picking up something just because it looks fun.
I want reading to feel cozy again—not like a checklist.
Creating More Than I Consume
This is a big one for me.
It’s so easy to scroll for hours and call it “relaxing,” but I always feel better when I’m creating something instead—whether it’s writing a blog post, taking photos, cooking something new, or even just putting effort into my space.
So this month, I’m trying to be more mindful about how I spend my time. Less mindless scrolling, more intentional creating.
(Not perfect—just better.)
Resetting My Space (Little by Little)
I don’t know about you, but my home always starts to feel a little… heavy after winter.
Instead of doing a full overwhelming spring clean, I’m focusing on small resets:
- One drawer
- One shelf
- One room at a time
Lighting a candle, opening the windows, and just making things feel fresh again. Nothing dramatic—just enough to make my space feel lighter and more peaceful.
Being More Present in Everyday Moments
This is something I say I want to do every month, but April feels like a good time to really lean into it.
Putting my phone down more.
Enjoying quiet moments.
Actually being in my life instead of documenting or rushing through it.
Even something as simple as enjoying my coffee while it’s still hot or noticing the weather when I step outside feels like a small win.
Letting Go of “All or Nothing” Thinking
If there’s one mindset shift I’m really focusing on this month, it’s this.
I don’t need to do everything perfectly for it to count.
If I read one chapter, that’s still reading.
If I clean one area, that’s still progress.
If I have one good, intentional moment in a day—that matters.
April isn’t about becoming a completely new person. It’s about showing up a little more intentionally, a little more gently, and giving myself permission to just… be.
Final Thoughts
I’m not setting a long list of strict goals this month. No pressure to “do it all” or suddenly have everything figured out.
Just small shifts.
Simple habits.
A softer approach to my days.
If you’re also feeling the need for a reset, consider this your sign to start fresh—whatever that looks like for you.
And if nothing else, let April be a reminder that you can begin again at any time.
Have a wonderful day,
Jackie
