FabFitFun Fall 2021 Review {09.15.2021}

Wednesday, September 15, 2021

Happy Thursday everyone! I hope your week is off to a great start and you are looking forward to a fun weekend ahead.  I know I've said this before, but I'm excited to finally check an item off my Michigan Bucket List.  I feel like I've said that a few times now, so if I had to guess it's possible I won't get to go this weekend too.  But if I do, I'll be sure to share!

Today I wanted to talk a bit about the FabFitFun Fall Box that I got! If you haven't purchased a FabFitFun box before, there are two options: Style Quiz or Pick Your Own.  For this box, I decided to pick my items because I was being a little picky on which ones I wanted.  The way it works is this: Seasonal members get to pick 4 of the items they receive in their box. After that, the items are up to blind availability.  If you are an annual (or "select") member, you get to pick 5 of your items and are surprised with your last item(s).

Here are the items from the "all members" category I received:

Item #1: Uncommon James Set of 2 Copper Canisters
These canisters caught my eyes immediately.  They're so cute and stylish and would make a perfect addition for my office.  I've been thinking of starting a bullet journal, so they would be a perfect fit to store all my new pens and other items for managing my bullet journal.  If I don't use them for that then I'm sure they will be used for decoration in the kitchen.

Item #2: Uncommon James Cheeseboard
I am super excited about this cheeseboard! I have never had one myself so I cannot wait to put this to good use.  I plan to use it decoratively, but I am looking forward to putting together a charcuterie board - but I'm thinking I will potentially use it for a pancake board or other fun boards.  Maybe even use it for a sprinkle I'm throwing for my friend in November.

Item #4: Cocus Pocus Buffalo Check Baseball Cup
Isn't this the cutest hat? I was very excited to see it as an option when I got to pick a few items out.  I plan to use this with a t-shirt, jeans, and a hoodie, or with a more athleisure outfit of leggings and a long sleeved top.

------------------------------------------

The next section is the section where only Select members would get to choose their items.  I was going in blind to these items no matter what.

Item #4: Amanda Uprichard Belt Bag
I've never had a belt bag before, so I went ahead and grabbed this one to add to my collection.  I think this will be perfect for those times I am running errands or doing things like apple picking or out and about where I don't want my hands occupied with a purse.  I am excited to come up with some fun outfits to go along with the bag - if you have any ideas please let me know in the comments.

Item #5: True Moringa Shea & Moringa Balm
This hand and body cream is supposed to help lock in moisture with shea butter and moringa.  I'm excited to see how well this works when the weather starts changing and my skin starts to get drier.  I've never used a product with moringa in it, so I cannot wait to see how well that works.

----------------------------------------------

The rest of the items are items that FabFitFun picks for everyone.  You do not get to pick and are surprised with each item! Kinda fun that everyone is on the same playing field for a few of the items.

Item #6:  Beauty Bundle: Babe Lash, Zoe Ayla and DOCTOR ROGERS Bundle
Okay I'm going to break these down individually so it is less confusing.

Babe Lash Pro Lash Lifter. I'm not one to usually get excited about an eyelash curler, but when I saw this one I was so excited.  I have needed a new one for years and this one is super cute.  It's rose gold and comes with an additional

DOCTOR ROGERS RESTORE Lip Balm.  Another good chapstick for me to try and I cannot wait to put it to good use.  I am not usually picky with chapstick but when I tried this one it was like butter on my lips.  This will definitely be put to good use this Fall.

Zoe Ayla Eco-Friendly Comb Set.  I wasn't too sure if I would need the comb set, but when I got it all opened up, I was excited to see how cute they were.  I'm actually thinking the bigger comb will be perfect for combing my hair while I'm in the shower and potentially start letting my curls do their natural thing.

--------------------------------------

Final Thoughts

The total value of my box was $299.90! I will say that customizing my boxes makes a difference because I am making sure I get items that I would be interested in using.  If for some reason the annual subscription goes on sale (more than the already $10 off they give you) then I might go ahead and sign up just to allow myself earlier access and more customization options.

Like what you see and think you may want to join in the fun? Use my link to sign up and get $10 off your first box!

Well that is all for today! If you like what you saw, my Winter Box should be arriving in a few months and I will be sure to share a post with you once I get it in.

FabFitFun Summer 2021 Box Review {07.15.2021}

Thursday, July 15, 2021

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you had a great week and are looking forward to a fun weekend ahead.  We have a wedding reception on Saturday then no plans on Sunday! This is the last weekend of wedding-related festivities for a while and I'm excited.

Today I wanted to talk a bit about the FabFitFun Summer Box that I got! If you haven't purchased a FabFitFun box before, there are two options: Style Quiz or Pick Your Own.  For this box, I decided to pick my items because I was being a little picky on which ones I wanted.  The way it works is this: Seasonal members get to pick 3 of the items they receive in their box. After that, the items are up to blind availability.  If you are an annual (or "select") member, you get to pick 5 of your items and are surprised with your last item(s).

Here are the items from the "all members" category I received:

Item #1: Summersault Neoprene Beach Tote in Blue/Green
I am always a sucker for a good tote bag, so when this option came up from my list of options I was excited.  The color is super cute and it's not necessarily a summery color - works for summer, but not limited to summer - so I could easily carry this throughout the year if I wanted to use a tote bag.  I am excited to put this to good use when we head over to my in-laws pool.  I'm also hoping to use it when we head down to Raleigh next month.

Item #2: Draper James Ruffle Nightie
I am not a huge night gown person, but this one is just sooooo  soft.  I love that it's lightweight but keeps me warm throughout the night.  And it's just so stinking cute - the blue floral is adorable.  I am looking forward to wearing this the rest of the summer and into the fall.

Item #3: MALIN & GOETZ Vitamin E Face Moisturizer
I perpetually have issues with my skin being dry through my t-zone and on my cheeks so when this was an item I could pick from the list, I was excited.  I've been hearing/reading good things about vitamin E for  moisturizing so I jumped on this item as soon as it popped up as one of my options.  I'll have to come back and give my feedback on how well it works once I've had a chance to really give it a good try.

------------------------------------------

The next section is the section where only Select members would get to choose their items.  I was going in blind to these items no matter what.

Item #4: TF Publishing Co. Brain Teasers and Activity Book Bundle
Aren't these so cute? The brain teasers and activity book bundles are so fun and have a wide variety of things to do in them.  I always loved activity books when I was younger so I was excited to see these in my box when I opened it up.  If they're any good, I might have to get some as Christmas gifts this year.

Item #5: MineTan Body Skin Moisturizing Recovery After Sun Gel
Anyone else burn super easily?  I burn sooo easily! The joke is I can think about being outside and get a sunburn.  So of course, this item is perfect for someone like me that burns even with SPF 50+ on my skin.  I am curious to see if this works better than my normal vinegar and aloe concoction I use when I get badly burned at least one or two times a year.  {Don't worry - I am actively getting my skin checked every year as an added precaution}.

----------------------------------------------

The rest of the items are items that FabFitFun picks for everyone.  You do not get to pick and are surprised with each item! Kinda fun that everyone is on the same playing field for a few of the items.

Item #6: Eyeko, Barefoot, Aria Beauty Bundle
Okay I'm going to break these down individually so it is less confusing.

Up first, Eyeko Double Act Shadow Stick.  I am sure the name makes it clear, but this is a double sided eye shadow stick.  The colors are similar in shade, but one is lighter than the other.  I think this would b perfect for someone who just wants a little something on their eye without the time and energy of doing a full look.  My only concern would be if it stays well - I will have to let you all know.

Next up, Barefoot Scientist Pedicure File.  To be honest, I am not sure how much use I will get out of this item since I regularly go and get pedicures.  It seems like a very high quality item, so I imagine a lot of recipients will be excited about this one, I'm just not sure how much I'll use it.

Last, but definitely not least, Aria Beauty Reusable Makeup Swabs.  I am super excited about these! I use q-tips to touch up my makeup all the time and I hate how wasteful they can be at times, so this is a perfect opportunity for me to reduce a little bit of waste.  And they come with the cutest travel case! I'm excited to see how well they work and how easy they are to wash.

--------------------------------------

Final Thoughts

The total value of my box was $291.95! I will say that customizing my boxes makes a difference because I am making sure I get items that I would be interested in using.  If for some reason the annual subscription goes on sale (more than the already $20 off they give you) then I might go ahead and sign up just to allow myself earlier access and more customization options.

Product Review: Daily Harvest Smoothies

Thursday, June 3, 2021

Happy Thursday Friends! I hope your week has been going well and you are looking forward to a fun weekend ahead.  Tomorrow my girlfriends are coming over for our annual fort sleepover.  I am excited to be able to to just chill with my friends and enjoy a fun evening.

Today I wanted to talk a little bit about Daily Harvest smoothies! I have been seeing Daily Harvest all over my social media for what feels like years.  Of course, I was intrigued by the idea of delicious and healthy smoothies being delivered to me weekly, but I was always a bit hesitant over the cost (because ya girl is cheap).  But after a while the advertisements got to me and I caved and purchased my first order of the smoothies and today I wanted to share my thoughts on the smoothies with you.

Before we get started, I will be sharing links to Daily Harvest throughout this post and if you make a purchase, I will receive a discount on my next purchase.  I want to be transparent with you all, as always so it is important I share with you.

How it works

Daily Harvest is very simple to use.  You can either go onto their website or on their app to browse the items they have available and add them to your cart.  Once you have added everything you want, they will place the order and ship it directly to your house.  Because it is a subscription service, every week you will need to go in and select the items you want for that week or skip the week.  If you do not skip, they will automatically reorder the same items as the week prior and ship those items directly to you.

The items arrive to your house packaged in a food safe container which keeps the products nice and cool so they do not spoil.  One thing I appreciate is they are packaged in recyclable containers so there is little to no waste with each smoothie.

What We Ordered

In our first package we ordered the following flavors:
  • Cacao + Avocado
  • Chai + Coconut
  • Chocolate + Blueberry
  • Chocolate + Hazelnut
  • Cold Brew + Cacao
  • Dragon Fruit + Lychee
  • Strawberry + Peach
  • Vanilla Bean + Cacao
  • Watermelon + Dragon Fruit

When you are ordering, Daily Harvest gives you a flavor description of each smoothie so you have a reference point for the flavor.  For example, the Chocolate + Blueberry is described to taste like dark chocolate covered blueberries.  Here's a hint: it really does taste like chocolate covered blueberries.  We ordered all of the flavors based on the description and which ones we thought would be the most tasty.

My Thoughts

What I Like:
The service is very easy to use.  You pick what you want, it shows up at your door and you have a health, premade breakfast available to you.  The flavors are interesting and not something I would have ever made for myself if I had just been making a random smoothie.

They do not add additional sugars to their smoothies.  Because the package comes with frozen fruits and veggies, you are net getting some of the sugar additives you can find with other smoothies.  The only sugar you get in the package is what naturally occurs in the fruits.

Of the smoothies we tried, I think my favorite was the Cold Brew + Cacao.  It kinda tasted like a cold mocha and it was yummy.  My least favorite was the Watermelon + Dragon Fruit.  For some reason the watermelon taste weird to me, so I might not be trying that one again.  We shall see - it's possible that particular watermelon was a bit more sour than I prefer.

What I Don't Like:
I won't beat around the bush, they are a bit pricey.  At $7.99 a piece, it feels like I am eating an expensive breakfast.  However, I am typically skipping breakfast or eating something that I really should not be, so if I pay a little extra to get a healthier option, I will splurge.  If you are not going to eat a smoothie every day and like variety in your breakfast options, you could easily get 10 smoothies a month and have 2-3 a week which would be a little more cost effective.

Wrapping Up

If you are like me and are looking for healthier alternatives for meals, I would definitely recommend checking out Daily Harvest.  Their smoothies are delicious and are super easy to use.  All you have to do is pull the package out of the freezer, add your own dairy and blend.

Because we liked the flavors, we have actually placed 2 additional orders of smoothies and will likely continue to place orders every 2-3 weeks depending on how many smoothies we eat in a week.

If you are interested in trying Daily Harvest smoothies, use this link here: Daily Harvest.  You will get $25 off your first order which makes the first package more affordable.

Well that is everything for today! I hope you enjoyed the product review - I am thinking about trying some of their other products and doing a review of those as well.  If you're interested in hearing about them, just let me know in the comments section below.

FabFitFun Summer 2020 Box Review

Friday, August 21, 2020

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you had a great week and are looking forward to a fun weekend ahead.  We have a wedding on Saturday then no plans on Sunday! This weekend is the last weekend for a little bit that we have plans because, well, COVID.  I have been enjoying a quieter year, but I do really miss seeing our friends and family.

Today I wanted to talk a bit about the FabFitFun Summer Box that I got! My sister-in-law sent me a starter box for my birthday and I loved everything that came with the box, so naturally I had to order a seasonal box to just give it a try.  For this box, I decided it would be fun to just take their style quiz and see which items they gave me.  As an FYI, you can pick which items you want, I just went ahead and let them pick for me.  The way it works is this: Seasonal members get to pick 3 of the items they receive in their box. After that, the items are up to blind availability.  If you are an annual (or "select") member, you get to pick 5 of your items and are surprised with your last item(s).

Here are the items from the "all members" category I received:

Item #1: Pottery Barn Mason Ceramic Diffuser in Solstice $59
I go back and forth as to whether or not I loved receiving this item.  I personally LOVE reed diffusers and love to use them, but with cats in the house I cannot use these types of air fresheners in my home.  I did some research on the diffuser hoping it would be pet safe, but everything I found said to keep it out of reach of children and pets.  So I ultimately made the decision to give this item to my mom.  I will say, she loves it and talks about how nice it is all the time, so it must be a great item to have in the house.

Item #2: Hydropeptide Moisture Reset Face Oil $120

If all I got in the box was this facial oil, then I for sure got my money's worth.  With the box being $49.99 per season, this item made the box worth every penny.  I am happy to share that I LOVE this product.  Not only does it work well, it makes my skin feel super soft and smooth.  Now to just make it last because at that price, I'm going to have to think long and hard about purchasing again.  If money was not a consideration, I would 100% buy this item again in the future.

Item #3: TOMS Sydney Glasses $58

Out of all 8 items I receive, these are hands down my favorite items in the box! Not only are they super, super cute, they fit my face nicely.  I am a big fan of anything TOMS, so when I saw these I squealed out loud.  I also want to add that for every pair of these glasses purchased, money is given toward vision services for someone that otherwise would not have those services.  So awesome right?

------------------------------------------

The next section is the section where only Select members would get to choose their items.  I was going in blind to these items no matter what.

Item #4: Silked Satin Pillow Sleeve $29.50
This is again one of those items that I probably would have never purchased for myself, but I am so glad I received this one.  So far since using it, my hair and skin have been feeling so much less chaotic in the mornings.  I don't know if that's just because I'm moving less in my sleep or if it's because of this case, but I am happy with it so far!

Item #5: The Lyfestyle Co. Beach Mist $42
All I need to say is I LOVE this.  As someone with super fair skin and sensitive skin, this product has helped me so much after those days I'm out in the sunshine.  I know my sister-in-law got this in her box too and her and the kiddos love it!

----------------------------------------------

The rest of the items are items that FabFitFun picks for everyone.  You do not get to pick and are surprised with each item! Kinda fun that everyone is on the same playing field for a few of the items.

Item #6: MakeupDrop Hybrid Makeup Applicator $20

This was FabFitFun's first pick for me and I was not disappointed with the product.  However, I do not wear a foundation that requires this type of applicator, so I would not get any used out of the item. I ended up giving it to my sister-in-law because she is more of a makeup wearer than I am and I knew she'd get good use out of it.  And so far she seems to love it.

Another great product to come from the summer box! When I am having a lazy makeup day, I always try to at least do my brows, put on eyeliner and put on some mascara and let me say this brow pencil is awesome.  I love the shape of the pencil and love how my brows look full without looking drawn on.  Definitely a product I will be purchasing again in the future.

Item #8: Spongelle Coconut Verbana Hand Cream $18
I am so excited to share that not only does this smell amazing, it leaves my skin feeling amazing every time I use it.  It has become my go to hand cream and it sits by my computer at my desk so I can use it whenever I feel like my hands can use a little pick-me-up.  And with as much hand sanitizer I've been using these days, it feels like they need more help than ever.

--------------------------------------

Final Thoughts

The total value of my box was $362.50! When I figured out that I got $362.50 for $49.99+shipping my mouth hit the floor.  I will say that going forward I will be customizing my boxes to make sure that I do not get items that I am maybe a bit indifferent toward, but with only being a seasonal box person, I still will be surprised with about 1/2 of the items.  If for some reason the annual subscription goes on sale (more than the already $20 off they give you) then I might go ahead and sign up just to allow myself earlier access and more customization options.

Like what you see and think you may want to join in the fun? Use my link to sign up and get $10 off your first box!

Well that is all for today! If you like what you saw, my Fall Box should be arriving in the near future and I will be sure to share a post with you once I get it in.

Product Review: billie Razor

Friday, May 15, 2020

Happy Friday Everyone! I hope you had a wonderful week and are looking forward to a fun week ahead.  We will be hanging out at home for the weekend and doing a virtual game night with our friends and maybe watching a few movies.  Otherwise, we will just be hanging around our house {just like the last 2 months}.

Today I wanted to share a product review with you all.  I am sure if you have an Instagram account then you've seen this razor pop up on your feed more than one time over the last week or even the last 24 hours.  If you're like me, you were interested in the razor because how in the heck does it shave through all of that girl's armpit hair in one swipe, no way! Of course when one of my favorite YouTubers provided a review of the razors and my neighbor mentioned how much she loved hers, I had to give them a try.

Before I get into the nitty gritty of the review, I wanted to first say that this post is in no way sponsored by billie.  I purchased the item with my own money and was in no way compensated for providing a review.  I really was just curious and thought some of you might be too.

How it Works:

Of course, the first thing you have to do is go to the billie site to check out the products.  When I was on the site, I was surprised to see that they also sell other items like dry shampoo, face wipes, body wash and body lotion {obviously they sell shaving cream too if you need some, but I was recommended to avoid it}.  I might go back later to try a few of their other products because they sounded very neat and the price was not crazy on them.

Since my main focus was the razor, I immediately gravitated to the Razor Starter Kit.  First you choose the color razor you want {I went with Dream Pop - but I should add that it looks like their color options change frequently}.  Then you select the frequency at which you shave.  The options are as follows:

1. Everyday (delivery once a month)
2. Few times a week (delivery every two months)
3. Once a week (delivery every three months)

For me this was a bit difficult of a choice because some weeks I shave once a week and others I shave more depending on how lazy {or not lazy} I am being that week.  Ultimately I went with once a week, because I figured I could always up the frequency if I wanted to get them more often.

Once everything was added to the cart, I went ahead and checked out.  My cart said that I was ordering:

1. Razor Starter Kit - razor, two blades and a magic (magnetic) holder to keep my razor stored on my shower wall when I'm not using it
2. Next Shipment - 4 refill blades which would ship every 3 months for $9

All together at checkout I paid $9.54 which covered the cost of the Razor Starter Kit and my taxes.

Exactly one week after I placed the order, my item arrived and it was time to test out this razor!

Happy Mail

I have to give billie credit - the packaging was super cute.  Everything came in a small box that matched their color theme of blue, pink, yellow and red.  Inside the box, there was a little note on the flap that said, "Time to give your lady body some love" with two hearts.  I thought that was a nice touch.  Inside the box, there was a pouch.  Personally, I thought it was a bit redundant to have everything inside a pouch, inside the box - maybe even a bit wasteful.  But I also understand that they needed something to protect the items en route to my house and the pouch could do that.

Inside the pouch was:
1. Razor
2. Razor refill
3. A holder for my handle (it's magical) + additional sticky piece
4. Sudsy body wash sample
5. Wonder Wipe sample
6. Pamphlet on how to do everything

Once everything was out of the pouch, I started putting it all together to see if the razor holder would even work.  And I have to say, it's been up in my shower for a month now and it has not fallen once.  My old razor thing would fall off the wall all the time and ultimately ended up on my little shower bench, but this holder has not fallen once.  I have not had a chance to try the body wash or wonder wipe, but I'm sure I will put them to good use soon.

My Thoughts

So I will be the first to admit that I let my armpit hair and leg hair get super long to really put the razor to the test.  I am sad to report that it does not take off super long hair in one swipe - armpit or otherwise.  When shaving with the razor, I found that it clogged up about the same or maybe a little less than my traditional razors do and I had to clean it up every few swipes to keep the shave clean.  As far as knicks go, I did not find myself with any knicks on my skin while using the razor.

I wanted to see how the razor would hold up as an everyday razor and used it a few other times for more of my "everyday" shaving and the razor did very well.  It did not clog up as much as the first use and gave me a clean shave overall.  I did end up with a knick on the back of my leg (but it was absolutely my fault - I wasn't paying attention).

I am definitely planning to continue my subscription with billie and having my razor refills delivered every few months.  For the $9 price and the ease of use, it makes so much sense to keep having them deliver my razor.  At $2.25 for a refill, it's hard to not keep it going when I was paying significantly more money to get my refills on my previous razor.

So that is all for my review! I hope you found it helpful and insightful.

Masked Beauty Skincare's NEW Luxury Face Mask - A treat for your skin!

Thursday, March 15, 2018

Disclaimer: I received these face masks for free from Masked Beauty Skincare in exchange for an honest review.  All views and opinions are my own and not those of Masked Beauty Skincare.

Hello friends! I hope you are having a wonderful week so far! Today I wanted to share a little bit about Masked Beauty Skincare's NEW Luxury Face Masks! If you are anything like me, skin care is a bit baffling.  I know I am supposed to moisturize, exfoliate, use sunscreen, etc., but I honestly feel like there is so many options out there that I often don't know where to begin.

Thankfully, I had the opportunity to try Masked Beauty Skincare's new luxury face masks.  When it comes to exfoliating, I am not great about it.  Of course, my lack of exfoliation ends up with me getting dry and flaky skin on my face (especially around my nose and eyebrows) which does not always look great under makeup.  So when these two wonderful tubs came in the mail, I was super excited!

Masked Beauty Skincare sent me both the Coffee and Chocolate Facial Mask and the Purifying Charcoal and Diamond Mask along with a handy silicone applicator.  For purposes of this review, I focused on the Coffee and Chocolate Mask first and will likely be sharing a review of the Charcoal and Diamond Mask on Instagram at a later date.

Before trying the mask, I spent a few minutes washing my face and removing my makeup so my skin would be fresh for the mask.  Applying the mask was super simple with the silicone brush.  All you have to do is take a little bit of the mask from the tub and put it on your face.  The bottle recommends starting in the middle of your face and working your way outward so I started at my nose/forehead then made my way outward toward my ears and jawline.

The mask itself was a little goopy-er than I was anticipating, but it felt nice on the skin.  I will say even with a stuffy nose (I had bronchitis last week), I could clearly smell the coffee and the chocolate on my skin.  Once you cover your face, you are to wait five to ten minutes before removing the mask with warm water.

I honestly felt like I had put a delicious mixture of chocolate and coffee on my face - it felt so nice and soft on my skin and unlike other masks, it did not get stiff as it set.  I would like to point out that it did burn my upper lip and nose a little bit when on, but my skin was raw from blowing my nose all week.

Once the mask had set for the allotted time, I gently removed it with a towel and warm water.  The removal process was just as easy as the application and took me less than a minute to take it all off.  Typically I am not a big fan of masks that are chunky, but the coffee pieces did not linger like some of the other masks I've tried.

So how did my skin feel?

Because I have sensitive skin, my skin turned red at the removal of the mask - I was not in pain, that is just how my skin looks when exfoliated (if you think this is red, you should see my eyebrows after a wax!).  Not only did my skin feel sooooo soft after the mask, it felt very fresh and it smelled amazing! There is nothing more delicious than coffee and chocolate and I was able to smell it for several hours after I removed the mask.

The best part about the mask is I felt the effects from the exfoliation for several days after use.  I was a bit worried the skin on my lip/nose area would be agitated after the mask, but the exact opposite happened.  I think the caffeine from the chocolate and the coffee gave my skin a bit of a boost to help it heal after I beat it up all week.

So that is my review of Masked Beauty Skincare's New Face Masks! Thinking about getting one for yourself? You should! These masks are $7.99 retail price and can be found at stores like Albertsons, Safeway, Hy-Vee, Meijer, Marc's, Kinney Drugs and Weis.  To get the silicone applicator, you would need to go to Rite Aid Drugstores to find one! These are easy and could be used for more than just the application of a face mask!
