Goals for the Remainder of 2021 {10.04.2021}

Happy Monday Friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and your week is off to a great start! It is hard to believe that we are in the last three months of 2021.  I feel like I a broken record when I say that the year has flown by, but time really has flown by as we have worked our way through this year.

Today I thought it would be fun to share the goals I have for myself for the remainder of 2021.  These goals will not be limited to one type of goal; rather, the goals I have overall for myself/my life.  I typically would have had a goals for the year post that I would reference to check in and see how I've done so far in the year, but I was on a hiatus from posting and have no reference point  to work off of, so instead I'll share what I am planning to accomplish for the rest of 2021.

Goals for the rest of 2021

1. Put backsplash up in the kitchen.  In the beginning of 2021 we had our first floor painted to be anything other than the builder grade paint we had on the floors and ceilings and I LOVE the color.  However, getting the house painted made me realize how badly we need to get some backsplash up in the kitchen.  We've already picked out the tile, just need to get it ordered and find time for my father-in-law to come and help us out/teach us how to do the tile.

2. Finish all the projects that are 95% done. This includes finishing painting the trim in Justin's office, touching up the paint in our bathroom (or the places that have paint that shouldn't), finalizing decorations in our bedroom, etc.  We are very good at getting our projects to the almost finished state, but often do not quite finish.  My goal is to get all of the things done around the house that should have been done a while ago.

3. Track my meals every day.  One of my goals that is always on my list every year is to lose weight (specifically 50+ pounds) but I have found that when I go to tackle this goal I end up being too overwhelmed and end up stopping a few weeks after starting.  This time, I am going to set one goal and one goal only related to my health: track all my meals.  I am not calorie restricting or limiting, just tracking how much I'm eating.  I think it will really help me understand where I'm overeating or what items are my tripping points and potentially eliminate down the line.  Right now the plan is to use My Fitness Pal as my tracking system, but if you have any recommendations you'd like to share, please do! I'm always open to trying new things.

4. Send a card to one person a day (not including Christmas cards).  Last month while scrolling around TikTok I came across this guy who asked people if they wanted to be PenPals and provided a P.O. Box for letters to be mailed.  Of course, we immediately jumped on that bandwagon and it got me thinking.  I'd really like to send a card to someone every day for the rest of 2021.  I love receiving mail, so why not return the favor and send cards to people that need encouragement or just like receiving mail as much as I do.  This means I need 91 people to mail a card to (which shouldn't be hard to come up with), but if I really enjoy this, maybe for 2022, I could try and do it every day! But for now, let's start with the last 91 days of 2021.

5. Read three books.  I know this comes up a lot on my monthly posts, but I have been trying very hard to read more books.  For October, November and December I am planning to read:
Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo, The Viscount Who Loved Me and An Offer From a Gentleman by Julia Quinn.

I have a few goals for the rest of 2021, but they're a little bit more personal and I'm going to keep those ones to myself.  So what do you think? What are your goals for the remainder of 2021?

Question of the Day: What are your goals as you wrap up the rest of the year?
