Happy Namesake Day {03.02.25}

Hello and happy Sunday friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and you are looking forward to a relaxing day ahead. We have no plans on the agenda for today other than errands and spending some time together. 

Did you know that today is Namesake Day? Namesake Day is aside for people to investigate the origin of their surname and given names, who or what they were named after, and what the names mean. While you share your name or surname with many other people, there is always a reason why your parents gave you that name. That is why Namesake Day was created to allow people to research the history behind their names and see if they can live up to its expectations – if any (link). 

So I thought - why not do a little get to know me post. If you've been around for a while, you may know that I am named after a very special lady: Zelma Jackie, better known as my Gramma.  

When I was adopted, my mom and dad did not know whether or not I was going to be a boy or a girl, but they knew either way that I was going to be named after my Gramma Jackie.  However, they didn't take her government name of Zelma Jackie but did me a favor and took the name that she went by which was Jackie.  

My mom wanted me to have a more elegant name so she ended up naming me Jacqueline with the intent of letting me decide to go by Jacqueline or Jackie. Obviously, I ended up going with Jackie and it just fits me. 

I also have a middle name that has been passed down for generations and I am a third generation with this middle name. I have always said that if I ever had a daughter I would 100% be using the same middle name and Justin agreed even before we were married almost 14 years ago. 

Unfortunately, both of my grandmothers have passed away so they live on in my name and all of the wonderful memories we all carry of them. I find myself missing them often and wishing I had just even one more day with them. For those that have lost loved ones, I'm sure you understand my sentiment.
