Favorite Halloween Movies {09.30.2021}

Hello and happy Thursday friends! I hope you are having a wonderful week and are enjoying this baby-Friday we are in today! It is hard to believe that TOMORROW we are heading into October and officially into the holiday season {unless you don't lump Halloween in with Thanksgiving and Christmas}.

Today I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite Halloween movies to watch every year.  Starting a few years ago, Freeform expanded their 13 Nights of Hallowen to 31 Nights of Halloween which re-sparked my love to watch Halloween movies and it looks like for 2021 it will be no different.  There's nothing more fun than watching the original movies I loved when I was younger all over again.  Check out this site to see the Halloween movie schedule on Freeform!

So here's my list of my five favorite Halloween movies:

1. Hocus PocusIf you are anywhere near my age, then you know how much I love this movie.  It's just fun enough and exciting enough to be entertaining, but also retro enough to be a little bit cheesy and that is exactly why I love it.  Honestly, I am be nervous about the remake/reboot they're planning but if it comes out half as good as the original then I'll be happy.

2. HalloweentownAnother cheesy movie from the early 2000's but I love this one as well.  It's got drama, it's got teenage woes and it has Debbie Reynolds.  I love all the different characters they created for the movie and how you feel good at the end of the movie.

3. Halloweentown IIMuch like it's predecessor, this one is also cheesy, but I do love watching this one as well.  I have to say, if nothing else it's good to watch while you're multitasking because you know what will happen, but still enjoy the movie.

4. CasperWho remembers this movie? I remember loving it as a kid and having the biggest crush on the kid that played Casper (not as the ghost but as the real boy).  The movie is a bit weird from beginning to end with the angsty teenage girl to the Cruella-like bad lady, but I really do enjoy watching it (especially the dance scene at the end of the movie.

5. Nightmare Before ChristmasI know, I know.  This is one of those movies that is debated to be a Halloween or Christmas movie, but either way I end up watching it around Halloween and Christmas.  It will be on my list this year of movies that I will be watching during the month of October.

I think that is my list of favorite Halloween movies.  I know a lot of them are more cheese, feel-good movies, but as someone who is not a huge fan of thriller/horror movies it makes sense that I would not include those in my list.  Another honorable mention is Beetlejuice.  I do love that movie, but it's not one that I actively seek out every year to watch whereas the ones I listed, I do.

I hope you enjoyed this fun little list of Halloween movies I put together.  Have a Halloween movie you love? Comment below! I'd love to hear what movies you love to watch.
