Free Fitness Plans for 2022 {01.08.2022}

Hello friends and happy Saturday! I hope your weekend is off to a great start.  We're spending our weekend celebrating Justin's birthday with our families and I am excited for time with family and for delicious cake.

If you are anything like me, you are likely thinking about your fitness goals for 2022.  In my 2022 Goals post I talked about the fact that I am not focusing on losing weight; rather, I am focusing on what I can do to improve myself overall.  This includes 30 minutes of movement a day and working to eat healthier foods and smaller portions.

One of the biggest things I struggle with is coming up with a great workout routine.  I am not really interested in going back to the gym so I wanted to come up with some resources of things I can do at home that will allow me to get in a good workout while also saving myself the time of getting to the gym.  So below are some resources I found that are free options for workouts that can be done at home with minimal to no equipment (with the exception of good shoes).

100 No-Equipment workouts

Below is an example of the 100 workouts that they provide over on Imgur.  There are graphics related to Star Wars, random tv shows and random movies and all of them can be done in the comfort of your home.

Blogilates

If you haven't found her yet, Cassey Ho over at Blogilates is amazing.  I found her YouTube a few years ago and love her.  She provides all kinds of resources like videos, meal plans and other resources for someone looking to improve their health.  I want to point at that a lot of stuff is free, but she does have some paid options so be sure to pay attention.  Either way, I love her videos and she's so inspirational.

Yoga with Adriene

Not too into the intense workouts and want to do something more for flexibility and strength? I'd recommend checking out Yoga with Adriene.  She has a ton of great intro to yoga videos and actually started a series at the beginning of the year.  This is a great resource and they're free.

Free Apps to Use

If you're thinking about picking up running but you're not sure where to begin, I'd highly recommend checking out the Couch to 5k plan.  This plans helps you build up stamina without risking damaging your body.  It's three times a week and it gives you indications of when you should walk versus jog/run.

Another great app that is free to use is the FitOn app.  This app comes with a lot of different types of workouts that you can do while at home.  I have a friend that uses this app fairly frequently and really enjoys using it.

This app is not free, but the Peloton App has more than just running or biking and provides a wide variety of workouts that can be done at home with our without weights.  If you're interested in checking out the Peloton App, you can get your first 60 days free with this link: Peloton App.

Check out YouTube/Pinterest

As with a lot of other resources, there is a TON of free information on YouTube and Pinterest for workouts.  Not sure where to begin? Type in "workouts for beginners" and you will find a wide variety of great resources to get yourself started.  The only recommendation I have is to make sure that you have the proper shoes when working out - this made all of the difference when I got started on my workout journey all those years ago.

Well that is everything that I have for today.  I am planning to hop back on my Peloton bike starting tomorrow (gave myself the first week of the year to get back into my routine) so if you have a Peloton and want to link up, let me know! I'm always looking for friends to compete against/ride with.
