Hello and Happy New Year! {01.01.23}

Hello and Happy New Year friends! It is so crazy to me that we are officially in a new year.  We spent a quiet evening at home watching movies, playing games and going to bed as soon as the ball dropped.  Honestly, I could not imagine a more relaxing and great way to bring in 2023.  January is shaping up to be a fun month with plans with friends and family.  Here is our month at a glance:

On the Agenda this Month:

1. Updating our pantry.  We have been planning to update our pantry to make it more efficient and pretty and I am excited.  We took a home equity loan in 2022 for our new deck and some landscaping and had just enough left over to update the pantry.  I am excited to start working on it today and hopefully finish it over the next week.

2. Friend visiting from Tennessee.  I am excited because Justin's friend is flying up from Tennessee in mid-January to celebrate Justin's birthday and just hang out.  The last time he was here was in January of 2020 and it has been since then since we've seen him so this will be fun!

3. Brunch with the girls.  I am working to try and get the girls together once a month in 2023, so we've already started brainstorming dates and I think we landed on the third weekend in January.

4. Date Night. I decided to add a deliberate monthly date night with Justin on my goals for 2023 and so far have generated a bunch of ideas.  I'm hoping we can do a date night in late January.  I've got an idea up my sleeve, but it will depend on the company opening back up.

Goals for January:

1. Finish one book.  I started reading Midnight Library by Matt Haig and I'm really enjoying it so far.  It is part of one of my {very old} Once Upon a Book Club boxes and my goal is to finish it this month.

2. Exercise for 30 minutes every day.  I know this is such a New Years Resolution, but I need to start moving my body more and have given myself a goal of moving my body for 30 minutes a day.

3.Stick to a cleaning plan.  Our house has suffered a bit of chaos the last few months and I am ready to get back on track with my cleaning schedule.  I know in my head that once I get everything deep cleaned that weekly maintenance will be so much easier than doing big cleans every three to four weeks.

Well I think that is everything for today! I hope you have a great month!

Question of the Day: What do you have planned in January?

  1. Like you I’m looking forward to 2023. I want to get back to 30 minutes of walking every day and doing yoga stretches. Hopefully this will help with the joint pain due to estrogen blocker that I have to take for the next 5 years. I want to travel to Boston to see my longtime friends and hopefully get to Albuquerque to see my sister and her family.
