10 year goals {08.08.25}

Friday, August 8, 2025

Hello and happy Thursday friends! I hope your week is going well and you are looking forward to a fun weekend ahead. We've got a friend coming in town for the weekend and have a few fun little things planned throughout the weekend so I cannot wait until the work day ends tomorrow.

Recently I have been thinking about life and what the next 5-10 could potentially look like for hubby and me. When thinking of goals, I know a lot of people think in the near future or within the next year or so, but sometimes it doesn't hurt to look further out and think about how things could be 5-10 years from now. So that is exactly what I am going to do today - think about the future and set a few goals for myself that I want to accomplish within the next 10 years.

Goal #1: Pay off all of our debt
I feel like I've talked about paying off debt before and what that has looked like for us in the past, but I'm sure those posts are very outdated and likely not worth referencing. When I say pay off all of our debt, I'm talking about non-living expense debt (i.e. credit cards/loans). We've already been in a position once before where we didn't have any credit card debt or personal loans and I'd like to get back there again.

Goal #2: Pay off our house
In 2020, we refinanced our house from a 30 year fixed rate loan to a 15 year fixed rate loan at 2.6% and have been steadily paying it off since then. At my latest estimate, we are approximately 10 years out from finishing our mortgage so if we could finish it before them that would be great.

Goal #3: Start our family
When I turned 30, we had a long conversation about having kids and what that would look like for both of us and in an effort of being transparent, it has not been easy. Unfortunately, we have fallen under the trend of infertility and have had to do some testing and other things that have made it more difficult. But that being said, I would like to start a family within the next 10 years - whether that's biologically or through adoption. But if, for some reason, it doesn't turn out for us to have a family that way, we are both comfortable spending the rest of our lives just us two.

Goal #4: Travel to new countries
I have been lucky enough visit a few countries outside of the US, but I would like to add a few more in the next ten years. In a few days, I have a post scheduled to go through my travel bucket list - this will include local and international travel.

Goal #5: Prioritize my health and wellness
For the last eight years or so I have not done much to prioritize my health and well-being. I am not gaining weight or losing weight, but I'm also throwing caution to the wind for my health and while I'm very healthy overall, I am finding that I am uncomfortable in my skin. Over the next 5-10 years I want to set myself up with an exercise routine and give myself physical challenges/non-scale goals to work toward.

Well I think that about covers everything for today's post. I plan to delve a bit deeper into each one and share details about how I intend to hold myself accountable for achieving these goals over the next few months. Do you have any goals yourself that you'd like to share? Be sure to comment below!

Have a wonderful day,
Jackie
