Rainy Day Activities I Actually Love

Friday, April 3, 2026

There’s just something about a rainy spring day that makes me want to slow down a little. You know the kind—gray skies, windows dotted with raindrops, everything feeling a bit quieter than usual.

I used to think rainy days were kind of a bummer… but honestly? I’ve grown to love them. Now I treat them as an excuse to stay in, get cozy, and do all my favorite little comfort activities guilt-free.

So if you’re staring out the window wondering what to do today, here are some rainy day activities I actually love—and keep coming back to.

☕ Cozy Reading Time (Obviously)

Let’s start with the most on-brand option.

Rain + a good book = elite combination.

There’s nothing better than curling up with a blanket, lighting a candle, and getting lost in a story while the rain taps against the windows. It just hits different.

My ideal setup:

  • Oversized hoodie or cozy sweater. My favorite one is the the Cloud Hoodie from Aerie.
  • A warm drink. Make it more fancy by using a coffee press or your favorite cute mug.
  • A soft throw blanket. My favorite blanket is the one below from Amazon. It's super soft but not so heavy that I overheat while using it.
  • A book I’ve been dying to get into

Rainy days are perfect for making serious progress on your current read—or even starting something new if you’re in the mood for a fresh vibe.

🎧 Movie or Comfort Show Marathon

Sometimes your brain just wants something easy—and that’s okay.

Rainy days are made for rewatching comfort shows or finally starting that series everyone’s been talking about.

My go-to rainy day watches:

  • Light, feel-good rom-coms (affiliate link: streaming service/free trial)
  • Cozy mystery shows
  • Reality TV (no thoughts, just vibes)
  • Nostalgic favorites

Bonus points if you build yourself a little snack situation. Popcorn, candy, maybe a fun drink… suddenly it’s an event.

  • Popcorn maker or kernels
  • Favorite snacks

🕯️ Reset & Refresh Your Space

Okay hear me out—rainy days are secretly the BEST time to do a light reset.

Not a deep-clean-your-entire-house situation… more like a cozy refresh.

Things I like to do:

  • Tidy up my nightstand or reading area
  • Swap out blankets or decor for spring
  • Light a new candle
  • Open windows just a crack for that rainy air

It makes everything feel calm and put together without taking a ton of effort.

🍪 Bake Something Sweet

If I’m home all day and it’s raining… there’s a very good chance I’m baking something.

It doesn’t have to be fancy either.

Easy rainy day bakes:

  • Cookies (always cookies)
  • Brownies
  • Banana bread
  • Box mix cupcakes

There’s just something about the smell of something baking while it’s raining outside. It instantly makes your whole space feel cozy and warm.

✍️ Journaling or Brain Dumping

Rainy days always put me in a reflective mood.

It’s the perfect time to sit down and just… write.

No pressure, no structure—just getting your thoughts out.

Some ideas if you don’t know where to start:

  • A simple brain dump of everything on your mind
  • Gratitude lists
  • Monthly goals or resets
  • Writing about what’s currently making you happy

What I use:

  • Cute journal
  • Aesthetic pens

It’s one of those things that always makes me feel better after, even if I didn’t realize I needed it.

📖 Plan Content or Get Creative

If you’re feeling a little productive (but still cozy), rainy days are perfect for light creative work.

This is when I like to:

  • Plan blog posts
  • Brainstorm Instagram content
  • Organize ideas for future projects
  • Work on something low-pressure but fun

There’s something about the calm energy of a rainy day that makes creativity flow a little easier.

☁️ Do Absolutely Nothing (Highly Recommend)

And honestly? Sometimes the best rainy day activity is… nothing.

No plans, no productivity, no expectations.

Just resting, scrolling, napping, or staring out the window with a cozy drink in hand.

You don’t always have to turn every day into something productive. Rainy days are the perfect excuse to slow down—and I think we all need that sometimes.

Final Thoughts

Rainy days don’t have to feel gloomy or wasted. They can actually be some of the coziest, most comforting days if you lean into them a little.

Whether you’re reading, baking, watching your favorite show, or just relaxing, it’s all about creating a vibe that feels good to you.

So next time it starts raining, take it as a sign to slow down and enjoy a cozy day in 🤍

Have a wonderful day,
Jackie
