August: Month @ a Glance

Happy 7th day of August everyone and happy Friday! It is so unbelievably hard to believe that we are already in August.  It feels like this year has been going by so fast yet moving so slowly at the same time.  I've been crazy busy at work {thankfully} and busy planning fun life events for our friends.

August is normally a relatively quiet month and this year is not shaping up to be any different (especially with that pesky COVID-19 still hanging out). Before I dig into what is going on this month, I wanted to quick touch base with you all on what we did in July since I 100% missed posting last month.

So here's the quick highlight reel:
  • 4th of July weekend we went to our friends house to swim and hang out (first time visiting anyone other than family) and we spent one day canning peaches with Justin's family
  • We threw a wedding reception for our friends at our house (don't worry, we were safe).  The party was so much fun and it was life bringing to see our friends for the first time in a long time.  Oh did I mention we had a 20's themed party? How ironic, right?

So let's talk a little bit about the month of August and the fun things we're going to try and do this month despite being home for the foreseeable future.

On the Agenda this Month:

1. Baby Shower for my friend Vicki.  Last weekend we had a beautiful baby shower for my friend Vicki.  This is her first pregnancy so it was a big deal for us to be able to go ahead and do the shower in spite of the pandemic.  Everyone practiced great precaution and it was such a nice event.  Isn't she just the cutest pregnant lady? Can't wait to meet her little one next month.

2. Graduation Party for my Cousin.  The youngest girl cousin graduated high school so we are going to celebrate her this coming weekend! It's a thing in the midwest where the graduate gets a big party and everyone come to celebrate.  Her party will obviously be a little bit different, but she's still celebrating and deserves to be celebrated.

3. Bachelorette Party for my Other Cousin. In another fun turn of events, my cousin is getting married in the middle of a pandemic.  So of course we're throwing her a "Let's Taco-bout a Wedding" bachelorette party.  I'm excited to celebrate her!

4. My Cousin's Wedding. On top of the bachelorette party, she's also getting married this month! I can't wait to celebrate her at her outdoor wedding in a few weeks.  So exciting for them.

5. My Dad and Father-in-Law have Birthdays this Month. I am not sure what type of celebrating we will be doing, but they both have birthdays this month.

Goals for August:

1. Read Two Books: This is a recurring goal for me and some months I blow it out of the water and others I struggle.  This month I am planning to finally finish Little Women and have The Testaments on my list as well.

2. Finish Decorating the Laundry Room. The laundry room is 95% complete with the exception of some wall art and getting the laundry tub cleaned out.  My goal is to get that space finalized so we can move onto another project.

Question of the Day: What are you doing to keep yourself busy while you are at home?
