Blogmas Day 15: Festive Date Ideas {12.15.2021}

Hello and happy Wednesday friends! How are we only TEN days away from Christmas? Today I thought I'd share some fun and festive date ideas for you and your honey.  During the holidays it can be hard to find the time {or money} to go on dates, so I'm going to share a bunch of random dates ranging in price and amount of work.

20 Holiday Date Ideas

1. Drive around and look at the lights.  If you're anything like me, you love spending time looking at all of the beautiful lights on stores and on people's properties.  My favorite are the people that time their lights to music.  Want to make it extra special? Make some delicious hot chocolate or coffee and take it along for the ride.

2. Attend a Christmas concert at a local venue.  A lot of local places are putting on fun events that are Christmas-y and often they are not crazy expensive.  A lot of local churches will do some great shows as well if that is your scene.

3. Go to your local zoo's holiday lights.  The Detroit Zoo does a great light show that is family friendly, so I'd recommend checking that out.

4. Do a Christmas movie marathon.  This one is self-explanatory, but plan a day with your partner to watch a few of your favorite Christmas movies.  This can include making some popcorn, snuggling up on the couch (or in bed) and watching your favorite movies together.

5. Bake Christmas cookies together.  I LOVE baking cookies and I love it even more when I get to bake with someone I love.  Pick out a few of your favorite recipes and bake them together.

6. Get your picture taken with Santa at the mall.  Doesn't matter if you're an adult, going to get pictures with Santa is always a fun idea.

7. Go ice skating at your local rink.  If you're in the Metro Detroit area, check out the skating rink in downtown Detroit.  I have not had a chance to go, but I have heard wonderful things and would like to make my way down there at some point.

8. Make paper snowflakes together. This is a cheap and easy date idea where you can make a bunch of pretty snowflakes together and put then around our house.  If you want to get more fancy, find some intricate tutorials on Pinterest of snowflakes you can make and hang around the house.

9. Create your own Christmas cocktail or mocktail.  This one is for those that prefer a night cap.  Find a few fun drinks that you can make together.  Not a big drinker? No problem! There are a ton of recipes out there for alcohol-free drinks that you can make.

10. Go sledding at your local hill.  Obviously this is weather permitting, but grab some sleds and make your way to your local sledding hill.  For us this is at an elementary school, but there are a lot of places that you can go and sled on bigger hills.

11. Take a nighttime walk to look at the stars. When it is chili out, sometimes it feels like the stars shine more brightly.  Why not bundle up in some warm clothes and take a nighttime walk to get a good look at the stars? Make sure to grab some hot chocolate before you go to keep your hands nice and warm.

12. Make a Christmas craft together. For this you can either find a craft at Pinterest, or go to your local craft store and look for some holiday-themed crafts that the two of you can do together.  Honestly, the kids crafts at my local store are so much fun and I really enjoy doing those.

13. Have an indoor picnic. Grab your picnic blanket, put together a fun meal and set up in front of your fireplace.  Once dinner is done, spend time talking with each other and snuggling by the fire.

14. Take a cooking class together (in person or virtual).  Want to learn a new meal together? Why not take a cooking class.  There are all kinds of places that have holiday-themed meals that you and your partner can cook together.  Not too comfortable going out? Check out the virtual cooking classes you can take from the comfort of your own home.

15. Plan a weekend getaway before the chaos of the holidays. The holidays can be very crazy, so why not rent a local cabin and get away for the weekend together.  Don't have time before the holidays? No problem! Book it for right after so you can decompress.

16. Learn about other culture's holiday traditions.  If you are curious about how others celebrate the holidays, then I'd suggest researching other traditions that are out there.  If you want to get really adventurous, why not try to incorporate them into your traditions too?

17. Make your own advent calendars.  This one is a bit more time consuming, but why not put together your own advent calendar.  You could either make one together or make the for each other so it's a nice surprise.

18. Cut down Christmas trees together. This one is not necessarily the cheapest date, but going and cutting down Christmas trees are a fun way to spend time with your partner.  Once the tree is home, spend time together decorating your tree.

19. Sleep under the light of the Christmas tree.  Grab your air mattress and your favorite blankets and set everything up by your Christmas tree.  This way you can enjoy the nice, calming light while the two of you snuggle and talk.

20. Make Christmas themed pizzas. This one could be a fun idea.  Make pizzas together in the shape of fun holiday shapes like Christmas trees, candy canes, snowman or any other shape you like.

Well that is everything for today! I hope you were able to get some fun holiday-themed date ideas for you and your partner.  Come back tomorrow to check out the reasons I love Christmas!
