Goals for 2024 {01.08.24}

Hi Friends! I hope your first week of 2024 was off to a great start and you are settling back into your routine after the holidays.  For today's post, I wanted to pop on to talk a little bit about my goals for 2024.  Every year I put together a list of things that I plan to accomplish in the coming year, and like everyone else I tend to not stick to them so this year I am going to try and be as specific as possible to find ways to stick to my goals for the year.  For now, I am going to break them down into four categories: Health, Wealth, Personal and Business.  So let's get started.

Personal goals are one of those that are usually all over the place.  Personal goals usually include things goals that I have for myself and goals that I have for our house so I will include both in my life.

So it is very cliche, but I want to lose weight.  Over the past few months, I have been able to take off about 10 pounds just from cooking meals at home and eating smaller portions, so I'd like to continue the streak for 2024.  But there are also other things I want to focus on for my health this year.

Fitness
For 2024, I have given myself two goals:

1. Close my exercise ring on my Apple watch every day for the year.  This can be done through walking, biking, or just moving my body more.  Ultimately, I'd like to get back into using my Peloton bike and Peloton app for regular workouts.

2. Increase my flexibility.  I have a lot of tension in my legs/hip flexors that cause me pain.  I know I could quickly reduce some of the pain if I did regular stretching and other things to help release the muscle tension.

Vitamins/Medications
One thing that kind of fell apart in 2023 was my vitamin intake and my medications for my asthma.  For 2024, I want to make sure I take my vitamins and use my inhaler every day for the year.  This will help me feel better overall and takes literally 1 minute.

Water Intake
This one is very straightforward, but I want to consumer a minimum of 80oz of water a day.  In the past I tried to do 1/2 my body weight and it just was too much for my body.  So I settled on a good 80 ounces and if I feel thirsty later in the day then I drink more.

In 2021, Justin and I had paid off all of our credit debt, but things got a bit messy and we racked up some more over the last few years.  I had aimed to get rid of all the credit card debt in 2022, but we had a few unexpected things come up so we are starting fresh in 2024.

For 2024, we are starting back on the debt payoff journey.  Except this time we have credit card debt, automotive debt and a home equity loan.  At the end of 2022 we added a beautiful deck onto our house and it was not cheap, but so worth it so we added an equity loan to our home as well.

In 2024, I would really like to see the following two things happen:

1. Pay off 2 credit cards in full
2. Finally pay off my student loans

I am hoping our bonuses we get this year will allow us to pay off more than two credit cards, but I am not counting on those and have set the goal based on our current income.

If I were to really stretch myself, I'd like to save $5,000.  But I'm not sure it makes sense to put more into savings when interest is accruing on the credit cards we have.

Goals for myself

I keep giving myself impossibly high reading goals, for 2024 I am sticking to one book a month.  I will be thrilled if I get above that, but I think setting it to one book a month is more reasonable given how busy I am.

The next goal is related to skin care.  I will officially be in my mid-thirties this year so it's about time I get super serious about taking care of my skin.  So for 2024, I am planning to take care of my skin by actually using good quality cleansers, moisturizers and sunscreen.

When it comes to goals around the house, my main thing is purging.  I feel like we've been collecting a lot of "stuff" and we need to start getting rid of it this year.  We did a pretty good basement purge in September last year, but we still have a ways to go and I'd like to really tackle it this year.

I have been trying to get my personal Instagram account to 500 followers for over a year now and would really like to do that by the end of 2024. I am just 53 away from this goal so it's very feasible I will get there.

As much as I wish I had control over this one, I'd really like to be pregnant by the end of 2024.  This will require me to schedule some doctor appointments and for Justin and I to make some decisions on our next steps.

I have officially had my Facebook Deals group for over 2 years and have been continuing to post deals every single day.  That being said, I am not quite where I want to be.  In 2023, I was able to hit 250 members which was quite an exciting goal; however, I'd really like to get up to 500.  Considering I am averaging 125 members a year, I think it would be reasonable to aim for 400 members by the end of 2024.

If you're interested in joining the group, check it out here: Shop with Me, Jackabee.  Every month I do a giveaway for those that participate and as we hit new member goals I will be doing giveaways as well.

If you made it this far, thanks for sticking around! I know it was a lot to read, but I am excited to see what 2024 will bring for us.  I love the start of a new year and look forward for a fresh start.  But I am also so thankful for 2023 and all the lessons it brought with it.  To keep myself accountable for 2024, I am planning to do a quarterly check in post.  I created myself a little tracking sheet on Excel where I can log whether or not I completed the goal for the day.  Once I get it all set up, I will also be using a bullet journal to track everything.

Well that is everything for today! Do you have any goals for 2024? If so share them here in the comments or over on my Facebook Page
