February Book Review {02.29.24}

Hello friends and happy Wednesday.  I hope this post finds you well and you are looking forward to the month ahead.  Today I am picking up a new "old" series that I had started in 2022.  I have a` goal in 2024 to read a total of 12 books (which is fairly low but I have struggled the last few years to actually read books so I have refocused myself for 2024 and plan to read more than my goal of 12 and share my monthly reads with you all.

So without further adieu...the second book review of 2024!

Book #1 this month was:

Book Lovers by Emily Henry
Nora Stephens' life is books—she’s read them all—and she is not that type of heroine. Not the plucky one, not the laidback dream girl, and especially not the sweetheart. In fact, the only people Nora is a heroine for are her clients, for whom she lands enormous deals as a cutthroat literary agent, and her beloved little sister Libby.
I have read majority of the Emily Henry books and I have to say this one was my least favorite so far.  I'm disappointed because I love reading and books and books about reading and love of books, but this one was hard for me to get into.  I'm not sure if it was the character or the pace, but it just wasn't my favorite.  All of the above being said, the book is good.  There is a lot of character development and the romantic piece is very engaging (think enemies to lovers trope).

Book #2:

Libby Ballard, director of the history museum in the small town of Dogwood Springs, Missouri, is excited to be organizing a tour of historic homes to raise funds for the museum. With plans in full swing, she drops by to confirm details with one of the homeowners and makes a gruesome discovery—the homeowner has been murdered.
I have been flying through all of the books in this series and really have loved them so much.  I have to say, I was actually very surprised who the killer ended up being at the end of this book and it kept me on my toes towards the end of the book.  I'm a bit bummed because I only have one more book in the series before I won't have anymore to read.  BUT, she is releasing another book in May so I am so excited.

Book #3:

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas
The second book in the series, ACOMAF continues the story after the very harrowing ending of A Court of Thorns and Roses.  And it has kept me on my toes the entire time.  Unlike the first one, the book hits the ground running.  I actually am (at the time of writing this) just finishing up this book so I included it in my reads for February.
If you have not started the series, I would highly recommend them - especially if you like fantasy series.
I hope you found something today to read this next month.  Don’t forget…

If you want to stay current on all of the books I’m reading in 2024, THIS PAGE HERE is where I keep the books, authors and reviews each month.

Okay what should I read next? I'm always on the hunt for book recommendations and am fairly open to all stories.

Have a wonderful day,
Jackie
