Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge: Book #2

Oh hello there! I hope this post finds you happy and healthy and safe.  With the chaos of our world right now, I'm hoping my little space on the internet will bring you a welcomed distraction.  I am so excited to share the second book we read from the Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge: Babe! Since Caroline picked one of her childhood favorite books, I figured I would another fun children's book from the list that I enjoyed as a kiddo.

Before I get into the review, I'd like to add a little disclaimer: Caroline and I started this journey back in September, but due to COVID-19, I finally felt like I could make time to start doing blog posts again.  So the first few books I will be catching up from books I read a while back.

Reason I picked this book: I absolutely loved this book/movie as a kid so I was excited to get the chance to read the book again.

What is this book about? When Babe arrives at Hogget Farm, Mrs. Hogget’s thoughts turn to sizzling bacon and juicy pork chops. But before long, Babe reveals a talent no one could have expected: he can handle Farmer Hogget’s stubborn flock better than any sheepdog ever could! When Farmer Hogget enters Babe in the Grand Challenge Sheepdog Trials, everyone, including his wife, thinks he is a fool. But he believes in Babe. Now it’s just up to Babe to convince everyone else to believe in a sheep-pig!

Recommended for: Anyone who is still a child at heart.

Something to know: The movie was rather accurate to the book.  I was surprised the details to which the movie followed the book.  Now to just go and watch the movie again.

Overall rating: 5.0 stars out of 5.
If you have not had a chance to read this book, I highly recommend reading it! The writing is very simple (which makes sense given the age of the book), but it was a very enjoyable read.
