Hello and happy Thursday friends! I hope your week has been going great so far and you're looking forward to a fun weekend ahead. Today I wanted to talk about my first ever visit to a pumpkin patch! I do not believe I've been to a pumpkin patch in my lifetime, or if I have, it was when I was very little and do not recall going so I was very excited when a few of my girlfriends were interested in making our way out to pick some pumpkins.
Originally we were supposed to go to away for the weekend, but the house we were supposed to stay at fell through. Of course we still wanted to do something together, but we weren't quite sure what do to. The thought was to go to Frankenmuth and do the Wine & Chocolate tour again, but that didn't seem too exciting to everyone. We finally got our idea of what to do when one of the girls found out our favorite local bakery had pumpkin cheesecake milkshakes. We knew that going to get milkshakes was a necessity, so we added pumpkin picking at a local orchard/patch to our agenda.
It looks like Spicer's uses the same tractors for pumpkins as they do the strawberries; however, the pumpkins are on the opposite side of the property. Once we got out to the patch we made our way out to start picking out the same pumpkins. I'll be honest, having never been to a patch before we all thought that it was just a field that they put all the pumpkins in (haha) but once we got out there and started looking around we found the vines for the pumpkins. We each picked out our pumpkins and threw theme in the wheel barrow provided by Spicer's. Because I am so extra, I had to pick a large pumpkin plus a few smaller ones.
Once we had our pumpkins picked out, we made our way back to wait for the tractor ride back. And we waited, and waited and waited and each tractor that went by was full. It turns out that the same tractor is used for the pumpkin patch is used for the corn maze and the corn maze is picked up before the patch. After waiting for about 20 minute, we decided the best decision was to just take our wheelbarrow and lug it back to the front. What we didn't consider was the 75+ pounds of pumpkins and the bumpy path we had to take back to get there. In hindsight, we should have just been patient but it sure does make for a hilarious story now.
Overall, the day was so much fun and I would go back again. I think I would maybe not get as many pumpkins (or even large ones) from there because it was a bit difficult to get a ride back and pumpkins are too heavy to lug across an entire field.
Well that is all for today! Hope you're having a great day.
