Wine & Chocolate River Tour: Frankenmuth {10.20.2021}

Hello and happy Monday friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend so far and are well prepared for the week ahead.  Today I wanted to share about one of the items I checked off my Michigan Bucket List! If you've been following along with my posts then you know that this is the third item I've tried to cross off my list this year and I'm happy to report that it was the first one that Mother Nature did not put a stop to.  In fact, we had a beautiful, Fall day.

If you are from Michigan and are looking for a fun and relaxing thing to do on the weekend, I would highly recommend checking out the Wine and Chocolate River Tour from Frankenmuth Funships.  I was thrilled when my friend invited me to come along to her birthday celebration in Frankenmuth.

If you are not sure what Frankenmuth is known as "Michigan's Little Bavaria".  The whole downtown is built to model after a Bavarian style city and is filled with great beer, food and lots to do.  I've been to Frankenmuth several times, but it's been quite some time since my last visit (in fact, it's been 9 years holy cow).

Our visit to Frankemuth started with lunch at the Frankenmuth Brewery.  I've had the food there before and it does not disappoint.  In fact, their French fries are some of my favorites.  I'm not sure what they do to them, but they are extra crunchy and just taste so good.  While we were there, I got the cheesesteak sandwich and it was yummy.

After lunch, we walked over to Frankenmuth Funships for our wine and chocolate river tour.  They were very organized and had things set up very nicely.  You walk into the store to check in (we bought our tickets online) and make your way down to the docks to wait for your boat.  We got there a few minutes early so we just enjoyed the sunshine and waited for the boat.

Once on the boat, they take you down the river for a little ways.  While on the boat you get a sample of wine with a piece of chocolate that pairs nicely with the wine.  I think overall we got 6 wine and chocolate pairings together before we were able to pick one glass of wine at the end (if wine isn't your thing you can also get a beer instead).  The boat tour was fun because the tour guide was very insightful and gave us a lot of information about the area, the houses, and some of the buildings.  I learned a lot about Frankenmuth and it's history from him.

Once you get back to the docks, you make your way back up to the top where you can get 2 more glasses of wine.  The selections here are a little wider so it was fun to try a few different ones that weren't available on the boat.  They also give you a commemorative wine glass for your visit.  After you finish your wine you have the chance to go in and get some extra chocolate (which we absolutely did) before going on your way.

The rest of the afternoon was spent walking around Frankenmuth and doing some shopping.  I was able to get a super cute sweater at one of the local stores and I've already worn it 3-4 times since buying it.

If you haven't had a chance to check out the Wine and Chocolate River Tour from Frankenmuth Funships, I'd recommend checking it out.  It's a fun thing to do with family or friends and it's not too costly.  I really enjoyed doing it and would definitely like to try it again in the future.

Well I think that's all for today! Have a great day.
